#6-At Home Juicing

Want to start juicing on your own but don’t know where to start? It is simple, but, be prepared for research on products, juicers and juice recipes. Juicing from home can be costly and time-consuming but if you are willing to put in a lot of time and money to a new-found hobby, why question whether or not you should juice on your own?

Getting started, you should begin research on the type of juicer to purchase based on how much money you’re willing to spend. Juicers range in price anywhere from 20 dollars to 1,000 dollars. Obviously the more expensive the juicer, the longer it will last and the quality of your juice will come out better as well. Here are some examples of where you can purchase a juicer of your own:

Besides research on what type of juicer you may be in the market to purchase, based on price and size, you will also need to research juice recipes as well so you can begin shopping for fruits and vegetables. Here are a few juice recipes:

Beet & Berry Liver Cleanse:

2 medium beets

2 cups blueberries

1 apple

2 large carrots

1.2 cup raw broccoli

1 whole lemon

2″ knob of ginger, skin removed

1 & 1.2  cup of pure coconut water

Cleansing Green Juice Recipe: 

3 cucumbers peeled

3 organic hearts of romaine lettuce

2 organic gala apples, cored

1 organic celery heart

Homemade V8 Juice: 

4 cups of tomatoes, diced

1.2 cup carrot

small sliver of beet (mainly for color)

1 tablespoon of  Worcestershire sauce

1.2 teaspoon of sea salt

1.4 teaspoon of cracked pepper

1 cup of water, divided

1.4 cup of spinach

1 tablespoon parsley

Now, having your juicer, and a website providing a few beginner juicing recipes, time to figure out where to buy fruits and vegetables for your juice. The best types of fruits and vegetables to use for juice, in order to receive the greatest amount of nutrients possible, it is best to purchase mostly organic products. Organic products are not sprayed with pesticides that potentially can bring down their overall nutrient level. Local farmers markets are best and most cost effective. In the Tampa Bay area there are many farmers markets you can find with a bit of research. If you cannot find a farmers market, grocery stores like Sprouts, Publix, and Trader Joe’s are also affordable options.
